Description: The Johnston Canyon area is located between Banff and Lake Louise along the Trans Canada Highway. It is an extremely popular destination given its ease of access and gorgeous waterfalls. Arriving a little before sunrise reveals the waterfalls in a natural, soft light. There are actually a number of falls along the trail in this canyon, all of them with the blue glacial melt water and surround lush green flora inside the canyon. The lower falls is the first waterfall along the path, winding down a tight canyon before its first drop into a protected pool surrounded by rock walls. This then gently pours out into a wider pool before continuing further on downstream.
